Primary Elections: Vote The Best Candidates In Your Party, Yowican Kwara Chapter Tell Delegates
Kwara State Youth CAN (Yowican) has urged the party’s delegates ahead of the primary elections of all the political parties in Kwara State & Nigeria to allow the spirit of God to lead them.
Yowican Chairman, Kwara State Chapter; Bro. Stephen Awoyale has urged the party delegates to ignore sentiments, bribes etc and vote for the most qualified and best aspirants to fly the flags of their respective parties.
In an official statement issued yesterday, he stated that as we are preparing for 2023 general elections, we need good people with the fear of God in leadership position, that will deliver the country from total shut down.
According to him, “unfortunately in Nigeria, we have an electoral act that supports indirect primaries and our fate is on the delegates. I urge all the delegates to vote the best and forget about sentiments. What we need now is to consider the best person for the job.
They should forget about their personal gains, sentiments and partiality because It breeds mediocrity, incompetency, and bad governance.
We need an open space where everybody can test his or her popularity at the poll, election ought to be where people go and choose from among the multitudes of aspirants.
He further regretted that after over twenty years of democracy, Nigeria has not made room for constitutional amendment for the people to have individual candidature and not to go through a political party.
“Our take is that we need God fearing, committed, hardworking, men of integrity that are capable and have the right quality to lead us.”
Speaking on the high cost of nomination forms for political parties, the Yowican Chairman said, “We should have a law to regulate what parties charge for aspirants to pick a form. As we speak today, ASUU is on strike for over a month and the person who should intervene brought out N100 million to pick a form, that’s absurd.
We need people who have what it takes to lead us. We can’t afford to get it wrong this time around.
I’m appealing to all the delegates to consider the general good of the people above their immediate gains.
What ever the politicians will give cannot solve our general problems, look at our roads, schools, hospitals, infrastructures and the worsening security situation all over the country.
The future of over 200 million people are in the hands of the few delegates.
Please, don’t sell your soul for a mere portion of porridge.
Don’t forget, we will all give accounts to our maker.
I want to appeal to all the delegates to allow the spirit of God & their conscience to guide them.
Our Prayers
That almighty God, will give us man after His own heart.
Kwara State Yowican.
