Security Situation Of Kwara South: A Call For Collective Responsibility And Action

It is quite disheartening to say the least, how the once serene and peaceful environment in Kwara South Senatorial District of Kwara State, suddenly transformed into a "Haven of Kidnappings, Abductions and Killings" .

What did we do to deserve this?

Who precisely did we offend?

Who did we offend so much, that the punishment for our offence is the loss of Mr Ade Alabi, one out of our many illustrious Sons? 

Who did we offend so much, that our punishment was the subsequent Kidnapping of a Man along with his Pregnant Wife? I was heartbroken when I heard that the Pregnant Lady was later killed in the process.

Our people were made to swallow these bitter pills on their own. Even those brave enough, who dared to go after those perpetrating these heinous crimes, were just offering their patriotic services not minding the obvious dangers. 

I will like to borrow from the words of my esteemed brother, Prince Tunji Moronfoye, who recently developed the habit of saying "when the heavens shall fall, it will not fall upon only one person but all of us"! 

I think the time has come for "a collective action" aimed towards securing our Homeland from "Unknown Criminal Elements".

This matter has reached a level whereby we can no longer pretend that all is well any more! I will like to suggest that an urgent Security Summit that will bring together all the major Stakeholders of Kwara South be initiated! *We must start to take collective responsibility for the security of Kwara South.

I am using this message to throw a challenge to all the Political Office Holders in Kwara South, if you are not actually aware before now, I must inform you that this matter is actually part of your responsibilities!

This is the time for the Distinguished Senator, our two Members in the Federal House of Representatives, and Ten Members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, to organise a meeting that will bring together other stakeholders such as Traditional Rulers, Hunters Association, Youth Organisations, Vigilante groups, Security Agencies and any other critical stakeholders and the sole aim of that meeting will be to ensure that such terrible occurrences are never allowed to happen again without the perpetrators being immediately apprehended and made to face the wrath of the Law.

I am charging you all who are beneficiaries of our votes, to use your collective good offices to organise a robust and reliable platform that is capable of securing our people!

I will not bother mincing words by saying if we do not address this situation and fast, we cannot guarantee who will be the next victim.
