Okorocha To Build Islamic University In Katsina
Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha has pledged to build an Islamic university in Daura, the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari through his pet non-governmental organisation (NGO) Rochas Okorocha Foundation.
Okorocha made the announcement in Daura, Katsina State at a youth empowerment event organised by Compare and Contrast Youths Initiatives, which he chaired.
The Senator, who was represented at the event by Dr Isa Halidu said Katsina State, with particular reference to Daura Emirate has shown him preference on all aspects of human existence hence, his foundation will replicate such gesture.
“I will build an Islamic university with modern facilities under Rochas Okorocha Foundation and to be inaugurated by myself in Daura Town.
“Every student of the school would have free feeding, accommodation and constant water supply while studying at the school.
“I will foot all the association’s demands, as well as organise training on skills acquisition programmes among the youth.
Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Dr Mustapha Inuwa expressed gratitude to Senator Okorocha for indicating interest in investing in the lives of young men and women.
In another development, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to look elsewhere for the solution to the current crisis tearing the party apart rather than blame it for its woes.
A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Secretary APC National Monitoring Committee on Ward Congresses to Katsina State, Babangida Saidu Nguroje told The Nation that the party is too preoccupied with its rebuilding efforts to be distracted by the crisis in the PDP.
He said: “I advise the PDP to put its house in order and be engaged in constructive criticisms as an opposition political party, rather than throwing accusations and suspicions.”
