Abdulrazaq, Ajulo, Saraki, ENACT, Anu Ibiwoye Mourns Ex-Deputy Gov. Ogundeji
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has mourned the death of the former Deputy Governor of the state Chief Joel Ogundeji, praying God to repose his soul and comfort the family.
This was contained in a statement on Thursday, by the chief press secretary to the the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye and made available to newsman in Ilorin.
“I send my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Deputy Governor on this painful, yet inevitable transition. I urge the family to take solace in his life of moderation, his footprints as a public servant, and the impacts that he had on his people and the community.
“I pray the Almighty God to grant repose to the soul of the former Deputy Governor and comfort the entire family and the people of Isin local government of Kwara State.” the statement said.
Rep Tunji Olawuyi Ajuloopin, member, representing Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun and Oke-ero Federal Constituency of Kwara has expressed sadness over the death of former Kwara State Deputy Governor, Chief Joel Ogundeji.
Ajuloopin in a statement on Thursday described Ogundeji as a loyal deputy and dedicated public servant.
The Federal Lawmaker described Ogundeji's death as a loss to the good people of Kwara and the country at large, adding that his elderly role in Kwara State would be sorely missed.
It would be recalled that Ogundeyi served as the deputy governor to Sen Bukola Saraki between 2003-2011.
Ajuloopin noted that the elder statesman served the state with all dedication and commitment, stressing that his service to humanity and to Kwara would forever be remembered.
The Federal Lawmaker said that death is a reminder for all humanity to do good and dedicate their lives to the service of humanity.
Immediate-past President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has commiserated with the people of Kwara of State over the passing of Chief Joel Ogundeji, who served as Deputy Governor of Kwara State, between 2003 and 2011.
In a condolence statement by Abubakar Bukola Saraki Media Office, signed by Olu Onemola, Saraki said: “I am extremely sad and heartbroken to learn about the passing of Chief Joel Ogundeji, who served as Deputy Governor, in the eight years of my tenure as the Governor of Kwara State.
“Throughout his life, which was dedicated to the service of his community, our state and the country, Chief Ogundeji was a steadfast, reliable and experienced leader and educator, whose commitment to the development of our state and its people was undeniable in both his words and action.
Saraki, in whose administration as Governor of Kwara State, Ogundeji served, described the death of the late politician, civil servant and educationist as a great loss to the state, particularly at this time, when the wisdom and experience of senior stakeholders are needed to steer the ship of the state.
“During our time in the Governor’s Office, Chief Ogundeji’s advice, particularly in dealing with issues concerning the bureaucracy, education sector, and traditional institutions were invaluable. He was also a diligent and loyal deputy, who despite his age, kept up with the fast-pace with which the administration moved in tackling the challenges of the time.
“As we mourn the passing of this great Kwaran, I pray that Almighty God comforts his wife, Mrs. Comfort Ogundeji, and his children; the people of Iwo in Isin LGA; and the entire government and people of Kwara State. He will be dearly missed,” Saraki said.
Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Contact Team (ENACT) Kwara South has described the late former deputy governor of Kwara State, Chief Joel Ogundeji as an astute elder Stateman. This was contained in the condolence message released shortly after the announcement of the passing of the elder statesman.
According to the statement, Painful but with total submission to the will of the Almighty God, we accept the death of an astute elder Stateman, Chief Joel Ogundeji, who just left this sinful world.
Baba Ogundeji was a father to all, who served this state with his best capacity as Deputy Governor from 2003-2011. Baba will be remembered for his peaceful nature as well as a focused individual in his lifetimes.
On behalf of the ENACT global Team, I commiserate with the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq over the loss, the people of Kwara South and Kwara State at large, and the family of the deceased. May God grant him eternal rest at the bottom of the Lord, the statement read.
The former special Adviser to the Kwara State governor on agriculture and rural water support services, Otunba Anu Ibiwoye in his condolence message described the passage of Chief Joel Ogundeji as a huge shock.
It is therefore a huge shock and surprise that our leader and pillar in the struggle to build a Kwara of just, humane and progressive society in Nigeria has returned to his maker; never again to be part of those patriotic efforts to make Nigeria very great.
Chief Ogundeji was a patriot, democrat, socialist, consummate defender of the poor, advocate of social and economic justice, promoter of human rights, liberty and dignity and, above all, a very good man.
