Citizens and residents of Ilorin in Kwara State are currently in high spirits following the announcement that the former President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, will be in town this weekend for the eighth year remembrance of his father, the late Senate Leader, Oloye Olusola Saraki, and the commemoration of the 25th year anniversary of the ascension of the Emir of Ilorin to the throne.

Saraki, who has continued to help with development of the people of Kwara State through his Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation (ABS Foundation) since he left office over a year ago has continued his philanthropy.

“Saraki has been instrumental to me,” said Ayodeji Ibrahim, a shop owner in Ilorin, “Even though he does not hold any public office at the moment, I cannot forget what he has done for my brother — when he secured him a job, and when he helped me set up this store.”

Other beneficiaries who are awaiting Saraki’s return, emphasized that they are excited that he will be participating in the two commemorative events over the weekend.

“Saraki will always be my leader,” said Tolulope Akanbi, “This man has given his all to Kwara, when he returns, I want to show him how much we miss him. I want to join everyone in celebrating the return of our Turaki.”

Meanwhile, members of Saraki’s media team have stated that due to the ongoing Coronavirus, they advise people to stay at home and to avoid drawing a crowd.

“It is advisable that people do not come to the airport to welcome the leader. We must adhere to all existing protocols to ensure that we do not endanger the health of our supporters. For this reason, it is strongly advised that all social distancing protocols are observed,” Saraki’s spokesperson said.
