The House of Representatives member representing the good people of Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency of Kwara State, Hon. Mohammed Omar Bio, and other Kwara North elected/appointed political office holders, has embarked on unity tour and constituents engagements across the zone. The first phase of the initiative covered a 2-days tour of 2 (Baruten and Kaiama) of the 5 local governments in the zone.

According to a statement issued by the lawmaker's Legislative Aide on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Comr. Seko Jibril Gure, the Kwara North Unity Tour/Town Hall Meetings became necessarily inevitable in order to brief constituents on stewardships, determine priorities of the people and for the purpose of uniting the senatorial zone.

Hon. Bio, in his engagements with constituents at separate town hall meetings in Kosubosu and Kaiama respectively, noted that the zone is severely lagging behind in the ladder of growth and development, adding that they (political office holders; both elected and appointed) can not afford to let their guards down after overwhelmingly enjoyed the supports of the electorates during the 2019 campaigns/elections and even now.

"The Kwara North Senatorial District is in a hurry for growth and development. We are taking all measures to addressing those challenges that has held the people captive for years so that we can chart a new purposeful direction in surmounting every developmental hiccup. But, we (elected/appointed political office holders) can not achieve this alone. We need untiy of purpose, your support and prayers. This is the reason for this initiative i.e the Kwara North Unity Tour and Town Hall Meetings", the lawmaker said.

"We have updated you with some of our major achievements when we marked one year in office as elected/appointed political office holders. We were able to also make some significant and impactful progress between that period and now. We will continue to do our best for the benefit of you and the society. This is our convenance with you during the campaigns. We can not afford to fail you, In Sha Allah", Dan Madamin Ilesha added.

The former Council Chairman also unfolded some of the projects lined up for constituents as facilitated in the 2020 budget scoping from Zonal Intervention Projects, ZIP, to Capital Projects.

"In no distant time from now, our ZIP will be coming up where a reasonable number of our women and youths will be empowered with various items. This will be in addition to those already trained and empowered with acquired skills tools. Our reasons for focusing on empowerments is not farfetched. You all will agree with me that when a woman is empowered, the society is empowered and when we empower the youth then we have curb a probable increase in the worrisome number of crimes in the society", Bio disclosed.

"Other projects lined up to commence soon are water sanitation, renovations of classrooms, provisions of electricity transformers, provisions of solar street lights, etc", he further disclosed.

The federal lawmaker, in his separate remarks, commended the Kwara State governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, adding that the good and progressive people of Kwara are impressed with the governor's pragmatic approach to governance.

"In an occasion like this, we can not waive at some of the tremendous achievements of the Kwara State governor, Alh. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who can best be described as exemplary leader whose pragmatic approach to governance is birthing speedy growth and development across board", the lawmaker noted.

"Going through the programme's leaflet on your palms, you will agree with us that the governor has, so far, done well in just less than two (2) years in office. The governor should also be commended for fixing reliable and competent hands from the zone in strategic positions to form his government. Gov. AA has demonstrated that the welfare of the citizens is his priorities and has been making sure that the dividends of democracy spread throughout the 16 LGAs of the state", he further noted.

On the issue of the poor conditions of our roads especially in Kwara North and particularly in Baruten/Kaiama Federal Constituency, Hon. Bio said himself and his NASS colleague and brother, Dist. Sen. Sadiq Umar Suleiman, are leaving no stone unturned in changing the ugly faces of our major roads in the zone.

"You may recall that my first activity after been inaugurated as a federal lawmaker at the floor of the Green Chamber was a motion seeking the reconstruction and construction of the Kaiama-Kishi and Kaiama-Kosubosu Roads. My National Assembly colleague and brother, Dist. Sen. Sadiq Umar Suleiman, moved similar motion at the floor of the Red Chamber. We wrote and visited the Federal Ministry of Works and Housings, Abuja, on the same request. We had also visited and wrote separately to FERMA on the need to rehabilitate the Ilesha-Baruba-Chikanda 'Trunk A' road that link Nigeria and Republic of Benin", the lawmaker said.

"We had recently met our listening governor, Alh. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on the state of our roads in Kwara North and it was resolved that the Kaiama-Kosubosu road construction will, In Sha Allah, commences in fiscal year 2021 through Public Private Partnership with BUA Engineering. This is the kind of listening governor we seek. Kwarans do not seek a professorial governor or one with high certificates who will siphon their common patrimony and/or pay half or quarter salaries. In fact, Kwarans are not interested in a 'yes-man' governor", the lawmaker added.
