Ekiti Constituency Lawmaker Creates Job For Constituents

A member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Honourable Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel, representing Ekiti Constituency, has lamented the rate of unemployment in the country, saying there is a need for the unemployed to acquire skills and entrepreneurship in order to move out of the unemployment market.

He made the remarks at the graduation and empowerment ceremony of a set of 65-youths trained in the art of making liquid soap, hand sanitizer, bleach and air fresheners under his sponsored Programme tagged Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel (AGG) Youths Skills Acquisition, Training and Empowerment Programme (AGG-YSATEP), held at the Isapa Multipurpose Hall, in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara' State on Saturday.

As part of efforts to further create employment for the teeming populace, Abolarin said his target was to lift quantum number of youth of his constituency out of the unemployment market before the end of his tenure as their representative at the State House of Assembly.

He explained that the training programme would go a long way in making the beneficiaries self-reliant in the skills they have acquired.

According to Honourable Abolarin, “During the period of our political campaign we promised to gainfully engage our youths by encouraging skills acquisition and technical training so as to make them self employed. No government in the world has ever been able to engage her youths without the support of the private sector and spirited philanthropists. It was therefore on this premise, that we resolved in giving our teaming youths the necessary skill acquisition and empowerment programmes that will make them job creators instead of being job seekers."

While urging the graduands to make judicious use of the take-off capital, by investing in the skills and become employers of labour themselves rather than seeking for the obviously, unavailable white collar jobs.
