How ENetSuD Used FOI To Know Locations Of Over ₦2.8 Billion 2018 Projects Under NSPRI

The Federal Government budget is characterized by the insertion of many projects without specific locations (States, LGAs, and the name of communities).

During our 2018 project tracking exercise, we discovered that various projects under NSPRI were captured in the budget of the Federal Government without any location, not even the State in the Federation.

ENetSuD wrote a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the Nigeria Stored Product Research Institute, Ilorin (NSPRI) to demand information on some ambiguous projects under its 2018 budget.

In response to our FOI request, the locations and the specific appropriated amounts for the following projects were provided to us by NSPRI:

Since Kwara is our only focus at the moment, we only tracked all those projects that are domiciled in Kwara State while those located in other states were not tracked by ENetSuD.

This is another reason we are advocating for the domestication of the FOI Act in Kwara State - to enable citizens to have access to information on how public funds are spent by the Kwara State Government.

CITIZENS DESERVE TO KNOW HOW PUBLIC FUNDS ARE SPENT BY THE GOVERNMENT
